Welcome to Arrest Stories. A twenty-one-year-old woman was arrested in Nassau County after a toddler drank from a sippy cup containing methamphetamine while in her care. Here's what may have happened.
On February twenty-third, a one-year-old child drank from a sippy cup that contained a bag of methamphetamine hidden at the bottom. The child was left in the care of Judith Addison at the time of the incident. When the parents, Hayden Simmons and Damien Windham, discovered the bag at the bottom of the sippy cup, a resident of the home confirmed the substance was methamphetamine.
Despite realizing their child may have ingested the dangerous illegal drug, none of the adults in the home immediately called nine-one-one for emergency assistance. Instead, Simmons, Windham, Addison, and Erica Catherine Foley monitored the child overnight.
The following day, when the toddler began vomiting, the mother transported the child to a nearby fire station. The child was subsequently admitted to a local hospital for treatment of a possible methamphetamine overdose.
Law enforcement executed a search warrant at the residence, which revealed drug paraphernalia including glass pipes containing methamphetamine residue. All four adults present during the incident were arrested and charged in connection with the child neglect case.
Officials condemned the adults' actions in strong terms. "This is a heartbreaking and completely preventable situation," authorities stated. "A one-year-old child was exposed to a dangerous, illegal drug because the adults in that home failed to provide even the most basic level of care and protection. There is absolutely no excuse for methamphetamine to be within reach of a child."
Judith Addison drew additional attention when she was photographed grinning in her mugshot after being booked on charges related to the incident. The charges against all four individuals involve amounts exceeding twenty-five thousand dollars.
All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
