On Tuesday, December second, just before seven p.m., Jacksonville police officers responded to a stabbing report at a residence in the forty-six hundred block of Wheeler Avenue, near Park Street and Blanding Boulevard. When first responders arrived at the scene, they discovered thirty-seven-year-old Jervas Eugene Williams suffering from multiple stab wounds.
Despite efforts by emergency personnel, they were unable to save the victim. Jervas Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. Several people were detained at the location as officers secured the area.
According to police reports, the fatal stabbing occurred during a violent altercation between father and son over a cellphone dispute. Witnesses were present inside the house during the confrontation. At some point during the incident, someone was heard saying "he's going to kill me."
Following the stabbing, seventeen-year-old Syr Keionne Williams was located in the area with two other individuals after being driven away from the Wheeler Avenue residence. Homicide detectives responded to the scene and began collecting evidence while interviewing multiple individuals connected to the case.
The attack took place at the family home on Wheeler Avenue, which is located close to Blanding Boulevard in Jacksonville. Officers had received the initial report of the stabbing at approximately seven p.m. on Tuesday evening.
Syr Williams has been arrested in connection with his father's death. This incident marks the fifth case this year in Jacksonville involving a child allegedly killing a parent. Homicide investigators gathered evidence throughout Tuesday evening and into Wednesday as they worked to piece together the events that led to the fatal stabbing.
The case involves six total individuals who were connected to the incident in various capacities.
