On December eleventh around eleven twenty-nine p.m., forty-seven-year-old Anthony Trevino was driving near the intersection of Loop Four Ten and Airport Boulevard when the incident occurred. According to police reports, Trevino allegedly failed to follow a left-turn signal at the intersection and instead drove straight through. His vehicle then struck another car in the roadway.
San Antonio police officers responded to the crash scene and made contact with Trevino. Upon arrival, officers observed that Trevino showed signs of intoxication. He was subsequently arrested on driving while intoxicated charges.
At the time of his arrest, Trevino was serving as an off-duty deputy with the Bexar County Sheriff's Office. Records indicate that Trevino had been employed with the sheriff's office since November twenty twenty-three, making his tenure approximately one year. He was currently assigned to the Judicial Services Section where he worked as a bailiff.
Following the arrest, officials from the Bexar County Sheriff's Office addressed the situation. Speaking about the incident, a department representative stated, "This gentleman does not have the ability to choose the consequences of his actions, and I strongly urge him to consider what his next career chapter will look like."
