MOTHER ARRESTED AFTER FINGERPRINTS FOUND ON ONE DISTURBING ITEM

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A California woman was arrested nearly two years after her five-year-old son's body was discovered in a suitcase in rural Indiana. Here's what may have happened.

In April twenty twenty-two, a shocking discovery rocked Washington County, Indiana when the body of five-year-old Cairo Jordan was found in a suitcase in a wooded area. The child's identity remained a mystery for nearly six months as investigators worked to piece together what happened.

Police believe Dejaune Anderson killed her son at her Louisville home. According to authorities, Anderson and Dawn Coleman then placed the boy's body in the suitcase and dumped him in the rural wooded area of Washington County, Indiana.

Indiana police were able to pull two sets of fingerprints from the suitcase, which they traced back to two suspects including Anderson. The case initially presented jurisdictional challenges as evidence spanned both Indiana and Kentucky.

In March twenty twenty-four, nearly two years after Cairo's body was discovered, U.S. Marshals arrested Dejaune Anderson near Los Angeles, California. Anderson faces charges of murder, abuse of a corpse, manslaughter, criminal abuse, and first-degree manslaughter.

Dawn Coleman was previously sentenced in November twenty twenty-three to thirty years with five years suspended to probation for her role in the case.

The Washington County Prosecutor's Office originally handled the case but later transferred it to the Jefferson County Kentucky Commonwealth's Attorney's Office due to the evidence spanning multiple jurisdictions.

Officials from Washington County expressed the community's emotional investment in the case. One prosecutor stated that when Cairo's body was discovered, the entire community was shaken, and residents surrounded him with love through vigils, memorials, and ensuring he received a dignified burial.

Dejaune Anderson is scheduled to be arraigned on December fifteenth at eight thirty in the morning.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
