Welcome to Arrest Stories. A thirty-nine-year-old mixed martial arts fighter was arrested at Gran Canaria airport after allegedly attacking police officers aboard a Ryanair flight bound for Dublin. Here's what may have happened.
On November twenty-fourth, what began as a routine evening departure quickly escalated into a violent confrontation aboard a Ryanair aircraft at Gran Canaria airport. Sinead Kavanagh, a professional MMA fighter, found herself at the center of an incident that would leave two Civil Guard officers injured and delay the Dublin-bound flight.
The trouble started around seven thirty p.m. local time, just minutes before the scheduled takeoff. Flight crew members reported what they described as violent behavior from Kavanagh to authorities. The pilot made the decision to request police presence on board the aircraft.
According to Civil Guard officials, the pilot requested police presence because of two passengers who were causing problems on board a plane that was about to take off. Officers were going to identify them and take them off the plane because the pilot had decided they weren't going to fly.
When Civil Guard officers boarded the aircraft to remove Kavanagh, the situation deteriorated rapidly. Kavanagh allegedly repeatedly struck two officers while resisting arrest on the aircraft. Passenger footage captured the chaotic scene as Kavanagh grappled with the two officers in the narrow aisle of the plane. During the struggle, voices could be heard pleading, Don't do this! Please!
The altercation resulted in injuries to both responding officers. Following the incident, Civil Guard representatives expressed frustration about their working conditions, stating they face professional fighters unarmed and without resources. One official described it as a tussle with officers, while another characterized the charges as disobedience towards a police officer, noting there was a tussle on board the plane but no assault as such.
Kavanagh was eventually restrained and detained at the airport's holding cell. She was later released on bail following a court hearing on Monday. Video footage of the incident has begun circulating online.
All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
