Welcome to Arrest Stories. Former Michigan football coach Sherrone Moore was arrested and jailed on assault allegations just hours after being fired from his coaching position on December tenth, twenty twenty-five. Here's what may have happened.
On Wednesday afternoon in Washtenaw County, Michigan, what started as a routine day for the thirty-nine-year-old head coach quickly spiraled into a series of dramatic events that would end with Moore behind bars.
At four ten p.m., officers from the Pittsfield Township Police Department responded to a call regarding an alleged assault investigation in the three thousand block of Ann Arbor-Saline Road. Police arrived at the scene and took Moore into custody. He was initially detained by Saline Police around four p.m. before being turned over to Pittsfield Township authorities.
The timing proved significant. Just thirty-three minutes after the alleged incident, at four forty-three p.m., the University of Michigan announced in an email to media that Moore had been terminated with cause, effective immediately. The university stated that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
Moore, who had been promoted to head coach in January twenty twenty-four, found himself facing both professional and legal consequences within hours. He was married with three children at the time of his arrest.
By eight thirty p.m. that same evening, Moore was booked into Washtenaw County Jail, where he remained in custody pending a review of potential charges by the Washtenaw County Prosecutor's Office. As of ten thirty p.m., no formal charges had been listed.
Police officials provided limited details about the investigation, stating the incident does not appear to be random in nature, and there appears to be no ongoing threat to the community. A suspect in this case was taken into custody, and at this time, the investigation is ongoing.
Authorities noted they were prohibited from releasing additional details given the nature of the allegations and the need to maintain investigation integrity.
All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
