Thirty-five-year-old Matthew Prokop, known for his roles in Hannah Montana, Good Luck Charlie, High School Musical Three, and Geek Charming, was taken into custody by the Victoria County Sheriff's Office and is currently being held without bail at the Victoria County Jail.
The arrest stems from alleged violations of bond conditions related to charges filed earlier in twenty twenty-four. In May twenty twenty-four, Prokop was arrested in Victoria after allegedly assaulting his girlfriend, facing charges of aggravated assault family and resisting arrest. The recent arrest indicates he allegedly violated the bond or protective order conditions from that case.
The Victoria County Sheriff's Office confirmed the arrest to E News on January tenth. Prokop now faces the additional charge of possession or promotion of child pornography alongside the bond violation allegations.
This is not Prokop's first encounter with domestic violence allegations. He previously dated actress Sarah Hyland for nearly five years before their relationship ended in twenty fourteen. In May twenty fourteen, Prokop allegedly slammed Hyland into a vehicle and choked her during an argument. Hyland later obtained a restraining order against Prokop, accusing him of verbal and physical abuse throughout their relationship. Modern Family actress Julie Bowen reportedly intervened in August twenty fourteen to help Hyland end the relationship.
Hyland has spoken publicly about the lasting impact of the alleged abuse, stating, "I don't know if that part of any woman will ever be fully healed from that. It's something that kind of scars her soul a little bit. It's more so putting love towards that scar instead of hating it and ignoring it."
Prokop remains in custody at the Victoria County Sheriff's Office Jail, and it remains unclear when he will appear in court.
