Welcome to Arrest Stories. Former "Bachelorette" contestant James McCoy Taylor has been arrested in Brazos County, Texas, on a warrant stemming from an incident in April 2024. Heres what may have happened.
According to police reports, James McCoy Taylor, 39, was booked on a warrant for assault causing bodily injury and unlawful restraint. The incident allegedly occurred on April 15, 2024, when Taylor pulled at a woman's finger to remove her engagement ring, causing her fingernails to break and leading to bleeding. The woman was able to escape and did not report any further injuries.
Taylor was released the same day on a $10,000 surety bond. However, he was rebooked on March 20, 2024, for allegedly violating the terms of his probation. He was released again the same day after posting the bond.
The incident has sparked a response from Taylor, who claimed, "I would never hurt anybody. I'm nice to every person I meet. That's my statement." When asked about the allegations, Taylor stated, "I'm a pretty big guy, but I was trying to 'unlawfully restrain' a girl, and she just … got away?… And walked right to her Uber right outside my house? With no injuries? Trust me, if there were any injuries, they'd be all over the internet."
In related news, Taylor was previously arrested on February 5, 2024, in Colorado for an alleged domestic violence incident against his girlfriend. A motion to proceed with the adjudication of guilt was filed in February 2026.
The Brazos County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that Taylor is being held on a $10,000 surety bond. The case is ongoing, and no further information is available.
