Welcome to Arrest Stories. A former Boston Bruins player fell into an undercover police trap when he allegedly agreed to pay a detective posing as an underage girl for sexual services in Hyannis. Here's what may have happened.
On September eleventh, twenty twenty-five, fifty-year-old Eric Nickulas became the target of an elaborate police sting operation that would end his day in handcuffs. The former professional hockey player, who skated for the Bruins for four seasons ending in two thousand six, allegedly walked straight into a law enforcement trap designed to catch predators.
The operation began at one o'clock that morning when an undercover detective posted an advertisement on a classified website known for adult and escort services. Using sophisticated Face App technology, the detective digitally altered his photograph to appear as a young female, creating a convincing online persona.
At twelve twenty-five that afternoon, Nickulas sent his first text message responding to the advertisement. During their electronic exchanges, the detective revealed he was actually sixteen years old and interested in sexual activity. Rather than ending the conversation, Nickulas allegedly continued communicating and negotiating terms.
According to police reports, Nickulas stated he was looking for some fun full service and agreed to pay one hundred fifty dollars for sexual services. When the detective mentioned the age issue, Nickulas reportedly responded, saying if that was a problem to let me know.
Before heading to the arranged meeting at a Hyannis apartment complex, Nickulas made two telling stops. He visited an ATM to withdraw cash, then purchased condoms at a Willow Street convenience store in Yarmouth. When officers arrested him, they discovered an unopened box of three Trojan condoms and two hundred sixty-six dollars in cash.
Nickulas now faces charges of enticing a child by electronic communication. He has entered a plea of not guilty but allegedly admitted to police that he knew what he did was wrong.
All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
