ATTORNEY ARRESTED AFTER SENDING THESE TEXT MESSAGES TO PROSECUTORS

Welcome to Arrest Stories. A thirty-four-year-old local attorney was arrested in St. Tammany Parish on charges related to improper telephone communications after allegedly sending threatening messages to fellow attorneys and district attorneys. Here's what may have happened.

Alexander Laird, a practicing attorney in Louisiana, found himself on the wrong side of the law when he was taken into custody in St. Tammany Parish on December twenty-second. Law enforcement arrested Laird as a fugitive wanted by both Livingston and East Baton Rouge parishes.

According to police reports, Laird allegedly sent multiple threatening text messages to local attorneys and district attorneys. The charges against him include improper telephone communication and improper telephone communications for language and harassment.

The legal troubles for Laird began building earlier in December. On December tenth, the Louisiana Supreme Court suspended him from practicing law due to what the court termed a threat of harm. The suspension order specifically cited threat of harm as the reason for the disciplinary action.

Prior to his arrest, Laird spoke with WBRZ and characterized his suspension differently, stating he was suspended for threat of legal harm to clients. He claimed he had not received any facts to defend himself against and expressed his intention to demand a trial before the Supreme Court that would be televised so the people can see what happens in courtrooms.

Following his arrest, Laird was transported to Livingston Parish to face the charges there. He was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on Monday. Additionally, East Baton Rouge Parish has placed a hold on Laird, which prevents him from being granted bond.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel is now considering seeking the appointment of a trustee to protect the interests of Laird's current clients during his suspension and legal proceedings.

The case highlights the serious consequences that can result from alleged threatening communications, particularly when made by officers of the court.

All suspects presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Do not take this report as factual, always verify facts. Thanks for watching Arrest Stories.
