Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, an Afghan national, found himself in custody at a Tarrant County corrections center following his arrest on Tuesday, November twenty-fifth. The Texas Department of Public Safety and FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force took Alokozay into custody after he allegedly posted disturbing content on social media.
According to authorities, Alokozay posted a video of himself on TikTok indicating he was building a bomb with the intention of targeting the Fort Worth area. Officials stated he "posted a video of himself on TikTok indicating he was building a bomb with an intended target of the Fort Worth area." The social media post contained threats to blow up a building in Fort Worth, Texas.
Alokozay entered the United States as part of Operation Allies Welcome under the Biden administration. This program was started in two thousand twenty-one to resettle Afghan refugees amid the U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan. He was admitted to the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident on September seventh, two thousand twenty-two, having been paroled under President Joe Biden's Operation Allies Welcome program.
Following his arrest, authorities confirmed that "He was arrested on Tuesday by the Texas Department of Public Safety and FBI JTTF and charged with making Terroristic Threats." U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has lodged a detainer on Alokozay following his arrest. No bond amount has been set for the defendant.
The arrest occurred just one day before a separate incident involving a shooting near the White House in Washington D.C. Officials emphasized the broader context, noting that the vast majority of Afghan nationals who came to the United States through Operation Allies Welcome are law-abiding residents who supported U.S. efforts in Afghanistan.
